Emily Swinnerton, 22, Eccleshall YFC, Preloved Country Clothing

RUNNER UP – Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2020

Launching a lockdown business might seem like a daring move, but after finding a gap in the market Emily Swinnerton is reaping the rewards.

After finishing university and with uncertainties around finding a job amid a pandemic, Emily hit on an idea around buying and selling second-hand country clothing brands.

The concept has now grown into a full-time job in her business Preloved County Clothing and her new home office is full to bursting with clothing.

Emily has always loved country clothing brands but often found they were out of her price-range. Setting up an online shop meant she could offer others access to affordable country clothing for men and women. Brands include Joules, Crew Clothing, Jack Wills, Ralph Lauren among others.

The business has brought together a community of people who love country clothing. Emily has found she is networking with people around the world – making friends across the country and even as far away as Canada.

Emily launched her own e-commerce website and also advertises across social media using Instagram (@prelovedcountryclothing) to show off her new items.

Describing the experience as the best eight months of her career, Emily has enjoyed work-ing in a sector she feels passionately about. She has plans to expand in the future and hopes her success will inspire others to start up an enterprise.
