Forage Aid Trophy

Awarded to the YFC Club that has raised the most money for the charity Forage Aid.

Winners: Teme Valley YFC, Herefordshire FYFC. Trophy collected by Teme Valley YFC Club Chairman Chloe Lloyd.

It might have been five years since this small club has held a fundraiser but Teme Valley YFC’s return to supporting charity was certainly successful after it raised more than £1,600 for three charities at its tractor run.

As well as raising money for the club and a local charity called the Megan Baker Trust, the Club also decided to donate some of the funds to Forage Aid.

Back in 2014 club member Henry Thorpe drove his tractor to Somerset and donated straw to farmers affected by the floods and the following year he drove from Sedgmore to Telford to raise awareness of Forage Aid.

The club wanted to continue this support for the charity by donating some much-needed funds.

The tractor run, held in January 2019, was promoted throughout the local villages, on social media and in the local press – helping to attract a grand haul of 71 tractors to take part on the day.

The Club charged £10 per tractor to take part in the 20-mile route from Gatley Farms and raised even more funds through a raffle and refreshments.

Club Chairman Chloe Lloyd was delighted with the results. “Everyone was really proud – and I am one proud Chairman of everyone who helped to make this event happen. It was a full club effort and we had a much bigger turnout than was expected, which was great.”

The event included a prize for the best turned out tractor.

Chloe said: “Forage Aid is a really great charity that supports farmers in need. It’s an honour to be awarded this trophy in recognition of the support we have given them.”
