NFYFC has been asked to involve YFC members and clubs in the celebrations for Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, which will be celebrated in 2022.

As an organisation enjoying the patronage of Her Majesty The Queen, YFCs are invited to join the UK’s long tradition of celebrating Royal occasions with the lighting of beacons to mark the Platinum Jubilee on Thursday 2 June 2022.

Clubs are encouraged to be part of this celebration that will be taking place throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK overseas territories.

Beacon events can be private events or open to the public and clubs can plan and host this as a club or community event for those living locally. YFCs are encouraged to collaborate with other clubs and societies in the area to co-host a community event.

You can download a guide, published by the Platinum Jubilee Beacon co-ordinators, with pages 10 to 15 of particularly importance focusing on:

  • how to take part
  • various types of beacon (some can be purchased, others can be built)
  • safety essentials
  • legals
