National Young Farmers’ Week 2022

Supported by:

17-21 October 2022

Save the dates and make sure you’re ready for the biggest promotional week in the YFC year as we celebrate all that is great about being involved in the largest rural youth organisation in the UK during National Young Farmers' Week 2022, supported by Oxbury Bank.

This year we’re celebrating YFC’s food and farming connections – and we want you and your YFC to get behind the celebrations.

Following a bumper membership year in 2021-22, we want to grow even bigger in 2022-23! National Young Farmers’ Week aims to be that extra boost we all need to attract new members and a chance to shout about the amazing work we do.

You and your YFC can start getting ready for the week now by downloading our National Young Farmers' Week toolkit. Activities you can start planning are:

Recipe challenge

Take part in our YFC Recipe Challenge and submit your simple, affordable recipe idea that uses British produce. Eat Well for Less presenter Chris Bavin will be judging your entries! Find out more information here and submit your entry

YFC events

This year’s theme is food and farming and we’re asking all clubs to involve the community and local food into an activity they are planning. This could be as simple as serving homemade cakes (using local jams and eggs) at a new members’ night or serving hot dogs at a Halloween or Bonfire night event. Or you could choose to organise a specific event to promote your local food producers. There's loads of event ideas in the toolkit

Cookery social media challenge

Encourage individual members (or organise it as a club) to film a Reel or TikTok that shows you cooking a dish that uses locally sourced produce and is also budget friendly. We want everyone to share these videos during National Young Farmers' Week. We will be collating the best recipes to include in a special YFC recipe book. Younger members who are not on social media can send in their recipes to NFYFC – There's tips on how to record a cookery Reel or TikTok in the toolkit.

Promote your YFC

Think about the ways your club can promote itself locally during National Young Farmers’ Week. This could be by advertising in the local paper, increasing your social media updates, sharing promotions from NFYFC or arranging school visits. NFYFC will provide a pack of graphics and templates for you to use during the week as well as template press releases.

New members' nights

Organise your new recruitment event around the time of National Young Farmers’ Week to maximise exposure. NFYFC will be doing a lot of promotional work in the build up and during the week, which will help draw attention to any activities you have planned too. The toolkit is packed with advice about hosting a new members' night and promoting it.

It’s worth discussing your plans at the start of the membership year so you’re ready to hit the ground running. Make the most of all the attention that is focused on YFC and remember that the work is only a success if everyone gets involved and shouts about how great it is to be part of YFC!
