Oliver, 11, Madron YFC, Cornwall

Shortlisted for New Member of the Year Award 2020

Having the confidence at 11 years old to dress up as a granny in a skirt and wig for a drama production is what makes Oliver’s early days in YFC stand out. A confident junior member, who even managed to carry on as normal during a live performance when his microphone pack fell off and pulled on his head set. Technical issues aside, Oliver delivered an impressive performance and was nominated as best actor at the South West Area finals.

But starring in Performing Arts isn’t what first attracted Oliver to YFC – despite not having a farming background, he joined to get involved in beef stockjudging, something he has also done well at so far.

He is described as kind and caring, with a smile for everyone – an all-round good egg who is keen to be involved in all YFC has to offer.

Since lockdown, he has attended as many weekly Zoom meetings as possible and the club expects to see Oliver do well as he progresses through the organisation.
