The National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) is one of the largest rural youth organisations in the UK. It heads a nationwide body of 615 Young Farmers’ Clubs (YFCs) throughout England and Wales.

Led by young people, for young people, YFCs provide 24,500 members aged 10 to 26 with a unique opportunity to develop skills, work with their local community, travel abroad, take part in a varied competitions programme and enjoy a dynamic social life.


Regional Manager/County Organiser - Somerset FYFC

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and self-motivated leader and County Organiser for Somerset Young Farmers Club based at our newly refurbished offices based at The Old School, Westonzoyland, near Bridgwater, Somerset, TA7 0LN.

Somerset YFC covers the county of Somerset with a total of 23 clubs spread across the country serving 950 members, making Somerset YFC one of the largest youth organisation in the country.

Board Members

The NFYFC is currently seeking to recruit experienced and dynamic individuals to join its Board of Management for a two year term of office (a further term of two years is available thereafter) with the following specialisms:-

1. YFC Member (full member – see definition point 1.2 below) – a full member of the organisation.
1.1. Applications from YFC members who can contribute to the leadership and direction of the NFYFC and provide insight and perspective of the needs of YFC members, with an appetite to develop their existing skills and bring creativity to the Board
1.2. Governing criteria: A full YFC member of the NFYFC over the age of 16 yrs (legal requirement) and 26 yrs or under on 1st September 2019

2. Independent Board member - expertise and experience at Board or Director level in the digital strategy and digital development of a membership or voluntary organisation
2.1. Applications from those with expertise of digital strategy (developing digital platforms) and/or digital communication tool development for a national membership or voluntary organisation are particularly welcome

3. Independent Board member - expertise and experience at Board or Director level in safeguarding and/or training of young people
3.1. Applications from those with expertise of safeguarding and/or training of young people in a membership or voluntary setting are particularly welcome

Those expressing an interest in these posts will need personal authority, integrity and the ability to provide sound objective advice. They should be well organised and have knowledge/experience that will contribute to steering the strategic direction of this organisation working across England and Wales as well as the ability to champion, influence and support the organisation as it develops a new strategy.

The roles therefore require confident decision makers with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
