YFC At Home – Support your Community

Many YFCs are supporting their local rural communities during Covid-19 by delivering groceries, walking dogs and picking up prescriptions for vulnerable people. Small acts of kindness mean a lot during challenging times like these and if someone is forced to self-isolate, delivering some essential items can be a massive help.

If your YFC is supporting its local community during Covid-19 remember that safety is a priority. You must follow social distancing guidance from the Government and wash hands frequently after leaving home and when returning.

For more comprehensive guidance on staying safe while offering care, Queercare offers a bank of resources, including correct protocols to follow for dropping off and picking up items from houses in self isolation, disinfecting things and organising your group chat. Find out more here.

Covid-19 Mutual Aid UK

There are larger community groups that are now trying to coordinate support during the outbreak and YFC members can register their group with Covid-19 Mutual Aid UK so they can be part of a nationwide volunteer project. The website includes lots of resources and advice to help you in running your local community group.

Farming Help

NFYFC has joined forces with four Farming Help charities – Addington Fund, Farming Community Network (FCN), Forage Aid, Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (R.A.B.I), and RSABI, supported by the Prince's Countryside Fund – and the NFU to support the farming community during the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

County Federations have been asked to share details about the YFCs who are operating support groups in their areas so Farming Help can coordinate support when required. Speak to your County Federation to check your YFC community support group has been registered.
