Fun, Learning, and Achievement

Audiences at Shropshire’s annual charity concert will enjoy an extra special treat this year when the County is officially presented with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service at the event by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire Sir Algernon Heber-Percy KCVO.

The County were awarded the title back in May (see image outside Buckingham Palace), alongside Staffordshire FYFC, for the work they do for charity but this weekend’s event marks the official presentation. And there could be no better time for it, as all 18 of Shropshire’s YFCs will be putting on a concert to raise money for three charities by singing, dancing, performing sketches and generally having lots of fun.

The event, which takes place at 7pm on Thurs 24 August at Charlcotte Farm, Cleobury North, WV16 6RR is sponsored by Madeleys Chartered Surveyors and will raise funds for Oak Farm, Midlands Air Ambulance and Breast Cancer Care.

Oak Farm, in Ditton Priors, is a working farm that operates as a day service for adults with learning disabilities in South Shropshire.

“We wanted one of the charities to be a local organisation that benefits local people and Oak Farm is a great organisation that works with dozens of adults,” said Rebecca Green, Shropshire FYFC's County Chairman. “Midlands Air Ambulance is also local and helps hundreds of people every year, and so many people have friends and family members affected by breast cancer that this charity means a lot to young farmers everywhere.”

“Our members do a huge amount of charity work, both raising funds for good causes and doing manual work within their communities,” Rebecca adds.

Shropshire FYFC would like to extend a warm invitation to all YFC members past and present, family, friends and members of the public to attend what should be a very special and enjoyable evening.
