AGRI (Agriculture & Rural Issues)

Agriculture and rural life is at the heart of YFC and has been since the first club was founded almost a century ago.

The NFYFC aims to be the voice of the UK’s rural youth and the next generation of farmers. The Federation was established for the purpose of advancing the education of its members and their knowledge of agriculture, rural issues and country life. It also aims to promote agriculture as an attractive and viable career choice.

You enjoy today and we’ll look out for your tomorrow! This is what the NFYFC AGRI steering group is all about!

So how does NFYFC AGRI Steering Group help you to get your voice heard?

The YFC members who make up the AGRI Steering Group work to NFYFC’s constitutional aims of:

  • Advancing education and knowledge of agriculture, life skills, rural affairs and country life
  • Developing self-reliance and individual responsibility
  • Training members to play their full part in the life of the movement and of the community

The NFYFC AGRI steering group work with the AGRI officer, Sarah Palmer, to:

  • Give YFC members a national voice on industry-related matters, including considerations for a post-Bexit agricultural policy and to collaborate with industry organisations
  • Promote the YFC profile for future support and funding opportunities
  • Help promote food and farming education and careers
  • Develop and provide training opportunities, resources, study tours and visits for YFC members
  • Help promote farm safety.
  • Be available for advice and information to YFC members and staff
  • Develop and host the NFYFC AGRI Forum on the Saturday of Annual Convention – open invitation for YFC members, friends and guests to join in with discussion, see industry exhibits and hear latest news from YFC and industry experts – look out for a dedicated NFYFC AGRI Forum Facebook event.

The National Federation of Young Farmers and the NFU Next Generation Forum members have entered into a new joint venture in sharing the membership representation on CEJA -The European Council of Young Farmers . This enables young farmers to attend pan-European working groups, seminars and conferences in a bid to influence policy makers and industry to put young farmers’ needs and aspirations high on their agenda.
