NFYFC Agriculture and Rural Issues (AGRI)

NFYFC’s Agriculture and Rural Issues (AGRI) department’s aim is to be the voice of rural and next generation farming members and provide innovative events, training, opportunities and resources for the YFC membership. The Federation was established for the purpose of advancing the education of its members and their knowledge of agriculture, rural issues and country life. It also aims to promote the agricultural and food industries as attractive and viable career choices.

‘YFC members enjoy today and we’ll look out for your tomorrow!’ This is what the NFYFC AGRI steering group is all about. The NFYFC AGRI steering group works with the AGRI member of staff Sarah Palmer - and is involved in a wide variety of work which comprises relevant lobbying, partnership/industry work, negotiating an annual NFYFC Defra grant that facilitates developing and delivering events, training, and resources. In summary, AGRI aims to:

  • Give YFC members a national voice on industry-related matters, including considerations for a post-Bexit agricultural policy and to collaborate with industry organisations.
  • Promote the YFC profile for future support and funding opportunities.
  • Help promote food and farming education and careers.
  • Develop and provide training opportunities, resources, study tours and visits for YFC members.
  • Help promote farm safety.
  • Be available for advice and information to YFC members and staff.
  • Develop and host AGRI events and industry-related training.
