NFU Trophy

Awarded to the highest scoring County during the Competitions year 2018-19.

Winners: Devon FYFC

Training sessions, experienced trainers and talented members are credited with the reason why Devon FYFC scored the highest in competitions in 2018-19.

Michelle Batting, current Competitions Chairman for the County, believes success starts at the county rounds.

“We have lots of super talented members within Devon and some very experienced trainers that are always keen to help us to achieve our full potential when taking part in competitions. Our county rounds are always such a high standard, and this means that we are able to send some great teams to the national competitions.”

These high standards are encouraged through training sessions, which the County thinks helped build confidence.

“We hosted a beginners stockjudging session last year to help encourage more members to have a go and build on their skills,” said Michelle. “Clubs will have also held many training sessions across the competitions programme and this helps promote the competitions and making them seem less daunting.”

A county of keen performers saw trophy wins at Competitions Day for the Show Choir and the Ballroom Dancing. They also won public speaking awards and the Men’s Tug of War.

“We are particularly strong in entertainments with our county rounds always being a very high standard. We also have a history of being very strong in speaking competitions and often go far in many of these competitions too,” said Michelle about the county’s achievements.

“We are delighted to be winning the trophy, our members put a lot of hard work into trying to succeed in all competitions and it's brilliant to see their efforts being recognised!”
