About NFYFC

young farmers
NFYFC supports the government’s Every Child Matters agenda and its five outcomes.
Be Healthy
NFYFC encourages members to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Healthy cooking, nutrition and sports can all be found in the national competitions programme which sees over 16,000 participants take part annually. Specific issue-based project work is also undertaken. NFYFC is currently working with the charity Brook to raise awareness of sexual health issues with members.
Stay Safe
The YFC Movement provides a safe environment for young people in rural areas to meet, participate in activities and have fun. NFYFC provides regional training for members to keep them up-to-date with current legislation and many clubs include workshops in their club programme on a range of topics from alcohol awareness, to road safety.
Enjoy and Achieve
NFYFC offers members from 10-26 the opportunity to participate in a range of programmes and activities which are fun and which incorporate elements of personal, social and emotional development. Members have access to a nationally run competitions programme which is developed members which aims to encourage members to learn new skills, work together as a team and try something new. The programme includes competitions such as public speaking, photography, dance and countryside craft. The programme is linked to NFYFC’s training package which provides support for club members in developing their skills.
Positive Contribution
Nearly all Young Farmers’ Clubs across the Country choose to support a charity each year and find innovative ways of raising funds for them. This can be anything from muck selling, to sponsored bike rides, to raffles, and discos. Nationally, Young Farmers raise in excess of £250,000! Many Young Farmers' Clubs are also involved with their local community where they use their skills to get involved with local community projects such as creating a garden for charity, tiding church yards to ditch clearing.
Achieve Economic Wellbeing
NFYFC programmes and activities have clearly defined learning outcomes. Members voluntarily chose to participate in programmes which provide learning experiences which can be used throughout life. The very nature of YFC means that young people are encouraged to take the responsibility of running their own club and county federations. They are the trustees of their charity. Feedback from past members demonstrates how by participating in YFC activities it has helped them in their career.
Youth Matters - Somewhere to go and something to do
YFC clubs across the country provide a place for rural young people to meet and a range of exciting activities to do! Many members have been able to take part in many more activities thanks the Youth Opportunity Fund and Youth Capital Fund. It has enabled members to organise youth forums, go on teambuilding trips and buy essential equipment. We even have members who sit on the Young Peoples Panel helping to decide who should receive the funding!
