Agriculture and rural affairs have far-reaching effects on YFC members, and young people involved in YFCs help to influence the rural agenda.
NFYFC helps members to vocalise their concerns and influence the direction of the YFC organisation. Meetings are held and work is discussed with the agriculture and rural affairs steering group, made up of regional and county representatives.
National events include the annual Agriculture & Rural Affairs Forum, the NFYFC Farm Business Development Competition, innovative study tours, visits, training events and surveys.
NFYFC also helps provide advice and feedback on rural housing and its impact on the decisions and choices affecting young people in the countryside, and its links with agricultural organisations such as the NFU allow YFC members access to exclusive benefits.
Members’ concerns are represented to industry and government on a national level and collaborative and partnership work is undertaken on behalf of YFC members.
