"YFC has improved my confidence massively and given me the knowledge and contacts to progress in agriculture"

Name: Hannah Irons, 28 years old.

YFC: Newborough YFC, Cambridgeshire. Nearly finished second year as County Chairman in Cambridgeshire. Also Cambridgeshire rep for Eastern Area and National Council, plus a member of the Personal Development Steering Group. Only Trainer in Cambridgeshire and delivering Curve training across the county.

Job title: Farm Trader.

How YFC has helped me:

“YFC has helped me massively in my career. Following a YFC tour of a Grain Merchant (amongst other tours), my eyes were really opened to the agricultural industry and all the different roles available - and that ag was not just full of farmers.

Following a redundancy over three years ago, I began my career in agriculture and haven't looked back.

YFC has improved my confidence massively and given me the knowledge and contacts to progress in agriculture.

The Public Speaking training and competitions have been a huge benefit and taught me skills I use when speaking in public or just face-to-face with a customer or colleague.

NFYFC’s Train the Train and Advanced Train the Trainer courses have been really beneficial to my character and when supporting my junior colleagues. I've also had media training at

NFYFC’s Chairman's Weekend (a training weekend for new county Chairs and Vice Chairs) which helped when I did a TV interview for YFC. I've also had two training sessions with JJ Lynch through YFC, which was very motivational and taught us how to prioritise tasks and much more.”
