Patrington YFC's bed push

The challenge: Helping the local community to raise money to improve a local Intensive Care Unit.

The result:

Patrington YFC members planned and took part in a 17-mile walk around their local area, pushing a hospital bed to raise money for Hull Royal Infirmary’s Intensive Care Unit.

The club got involved in the fundraising campaign to help support the family of a local farmer who had to spend a long time in the Intensive Care Unit. The family wanted to improve living spaces in the ICU for patients and families and so Patrington YFC decided to show their support by doing the bed-push around Sunk Island, a village in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

The mission raised £1,388 for the ICU and the hospital have bought much-needed equipment with the funds.

James Robinson, Chairman of Patrington YFC, said: “It was good for the Club to take part in such a helpful activity to aid the local community.”

Patrington YFC received £400 from the Countryside Challenge fund to help them host the fundraiser.
