Make your discovery in 2009!

NFYFC’s International Selection Day takes place on Sunday 7th December 2008 and the organisation is looking for 67 enthusiastic members to take part in the 19 international trips available through its Discovery 2009 programme. Travelling with Discovery is a unique experience; it gives you the opportunity to experience new cultures, make new friends and really widen your horizons. You can choose between Homestay, Team Travel or Development Team Travel and Working Exchanges. Argentina, Australia, Kenya and Norway are just four of the destinations on offer and the trips vary from one week to four months. In most cases, the cost is just the airfare, participation fee and insurance. If you want to travel and be part of the Discovery programme, all you have to do is decide which trip appeals to you, apply and get selected! If you are selected, you will have the chance to be an ambassador for your country and for the YFC organisation. This is a really positive achievement to put on your CV, or in your university or job applications. So stop just thinking that it’s other people that do these things and grasp the opportunity that’s being offered – it could be you packing your suitcase for the YFC Discovery trip of a lifetime!

How to Apply

Being part of Discovery 2009 is easy. Just download the Discovery 2009 brochure below, decide which of the trips you would like to apply for and download the appropriate form. There are four types of application form:

Homestay Application Form - for Homestays Exchanges, Team Travel & Development Team Travel

ESU Argentina Working Exchange

C Alma Baker Trust Working Exchange

U18s Nordic 4H Youth Camp

Send the completed form to your county office – you will need to check when this needs to be returned. Your county office will sign the form and send it to the Discovery officer before the closing date on Friday 21 November. You will then be invited (everyone except the Nordic 4H Youth Camp (under 18) applicants) to attend the International Selection Day at the NFU Mutual Head offices in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire on Sunday 7th December.
