St Dunstan's Go the Distance Cadet & Youth Challenge

The idea behind the challenge is to make as many young people as possible aware of St Dunstan’s and its work to support more than 3,000 blinded ex-service personnel and members of the emergency services from every conflict from the Second World War up to and including the present operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. The winning team receives the Cadet and Youth Challenge Trophy. It’s free to enter and a great way of giving something back to those men and women of St Dunstan’s who have incurred lifelong loss or severe damage to their eyesight.

20 March 2010: Tug of War Association (ToWA) judges training day

This is an opportunity for YFC members, or past members, to be trained to act as official ToWA judges at YFC competitions (and Tug of War competitions outside of the organisation). For those counties where members are already trained as ToWA judges, those individuals are also invited to attend this course as a refresher. Training will take place in Lincoln.

19 April 2010 deadline: Sex and relationships education consultation

The Government has announced plans for improved sex and relationships education in schools. Young people will be taught how to deal with the pressure and intimidation often caused by exposure to sexual content in the media and on the internet and mobile phones. Children will also learn about the importance of marriage and stable relationships to family life, and the value of delaying sexual experiences. The Government is now consulting on this new guidance.


 

30 April 2010 deadline: 2Young2Die campaign competition

If you are aged between 11 and 25 and want help save your generation’s lives on roads, enter this competition and WIN BIG! Road deaths are a huge killer of young people. Every day on British roads, six young people aged 12-19 are killed or seriously hurt on foot or bicycles, and 19 young people under 25 are killed or seriously hurt in cars.
