Funding

Funding opportunities are available from a host of sources to help clubs and counties provide training and development initiatives for their members.

You can also apply for cash to help with club resources such as coaching, equipment and one-off projects.

Some of the help can be applied for year-round, while other funds are available only for a short time so visit regularly to see what money might be available to help with activities in your club or county.

Awards for All offer grants of between £300 and £10,000 for projects that improve communities, and the lives of people within them.

 

bullet point CLA Charitable Trust

The CLA trust gives grants and awards that focus on smaller projects where the grant makes a real contribution to the success of that project.

 

bullet pointComic Relief

Comic relief fund a variety of projects with young people nationally. The grants  vary between £25,000 and £40,000 per year and are given to larger groups so it may be beneficial to apply as a county federation or even an area.

 

bullet pointFunding Central

Funding central is a database of hundreds of funders that give money to voluntary organisations like YFCs. If you have a project idea in mind why not search to see any current funding streams match your criteria.

 

bullet point FunderFinder's website

FunderFinder is a small UK charity producing software and other resources, mainly for grant-seekers. They specialise in information and advice about charitable trusts and foundations that fund in the UK.

 

bullet pointGRANT finder

GRANT finder is the UK's leading grants and policy database and includes details of more than 6,000 funding opportunities. GRANT finder subscribers include local authorities, the voluntary and charitable sector, universities and colleges, housing associations, the health sector and business support organisations.

Grants offered are between £250 and £5,000.

 

bullet pointGovernment Funding

Search for funding for the voluntary and community sector from 150 Local Authorities using this new Local Authority Funder Finder.

Lantra's LandSkills projects can fund skills development, knowledge transfer and training.

The National Lottery manages many funding streams and has created a website that searches them for you to ensure that you are applying for funding that is specific to your group.

Grants of up to £1,000 are available to local groups and individuals to support projects that bring people together and benefit the community.

This project aims to help individuals who want to supplement their income from outside the farm.

Sport England has many funding streams that that can be used to buy equipment, pay for tuition or to start up new sporting activities.

 

bullet point UnLtd Sport Relief awards

Funded by Comic Relief, the UK wide funding programme is for 11-21-year-olds prepared to use their passion for sport and arts to bring respect and understanding to their communities by setting up their own projects.

YouthBank UK is a national grantmaking initiative run by young people for young people. Local YouthBanks provide small grants to projects led by young people, to help benefit the community.

The Youth Music Open Programme is now available for organisations wishing to apply for grants of between £5,000 to £30,000.

Funded activities must support the five Every Child Matters outcomes, benefit the local community and offer good value for money.

Student bursaries


ABP student bursary scheme

The ABP Student Bursary Scheme will be open to individuals between the ages of 18 and 26 who wish to make a career in the livestock industry either as farmers' food technologists or in the processing industry. Applicants will be able to make proposals to study a relevant course at any higher education facility within the UK either on full or part-time basis.

ABP will offer a variety of provisions to the successful applicants throughout the period of their studies, including financial support' work experience, and opportunities to work on relevant projects. All students will also be allocated an ABP mentor.

NFU Mutual Centenary Award

In 2010 rural insurer NFU Mutual celebrates its 100th birthday. To mark the occasion, the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust is launching the Centenary Award for post graduate students in agriculture, which will give annual bursaries to pay 75 per cent of course fees for selected post graduate students in agriculture.

The award is open to students of the British Islands who have gained, or are currently expecting to gain, a 2:1 or above in agriculture (or a closely related degree), and have been accepted or provisionally accepted on a Masters or PhD course in agriculture in the British Islands starting in autumn 2010. 

Prospective post graduate students who think they may be eligible to apply for the award should contact centenary_award@nfumutual.co.uk to request further details and an application form.
