The new NFYFC EBLEX regional training events offer YFC members practical farming and business skills to produce meat for today’s market. Whether you’re a farmer, student or YFC stockjudging competitor – this is the training for you!

These fantastic events are totally free and open to all members of YFC over 18. You’ll learn:

  • How to produce meat for today’s market
  • Practical farming and business skills
  • Polish up those YFC stockjuding and carcase competition skills.

    The training day covers the topics listed below using cattle demonstration training sessions and carcase inspection:

    •    Efficient handling and selection    -   Classification    -   Understanding the market place
    •    How different classes of stock fit into the supply chain       
    •    Importance of meeting specification    -    Carcase utilisation and judging
    •    Value of fifth quarter (animal health)   -    Traditional and modern butchery techniques
    •    Calculation and comparison of wholesale and retail carcase yield/margins
    •    Inspection of live animals before slaughter and as carcasses
