NFYFC will play host to 40 young people from across Europe next month for a week-long seminar focused on rural innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Rural Youth Europe (RYE) Autumn Seminar has been planned and organised by a team of YFC members as part of RYE's annual programme of seminars and rallies held across Europe for rural young people. NFYFC was awarded the funding for the seminar by the EU’s Youth in Action programme, managed in the UK by the British Council.

Delegates from as far away as Norway and Serbia will attend the event at the Malvern Outdoor Elements Centre in Worcestershire.

With 23% of under 25 year olds across Europe unemployed, the seminar aims to give attendees the skills and ideas to become rural entrepreneurs. Through interactive workshops, study trips and expert presentations it will look at how specific rural businesses have used innovative techniques, diversification and social media to start-up and grow.

Claire Worden, Vice Chairman of NFYFC, and the Autumn Seminar 2013 Chairman, said:

“The Rural Youth Europe Autumn Seminar is a unique event where young people get together from rural youth organisations from across Europe to share ideas and best practice. As one of the biggest rural youth organisations in Europe, NFYFC is excited about the opportunity to show off what our members are doing in England and Wales and for us to learn from this intercultural exchange.

“The last time we hosted a Rural Youth Europe Event was in 1988 and we have developed massively since then. I have friends from all over the world because of RYE events and I’m really excited that we are making this one happen.

“We really want this to be an opportunity for YFC members to learn more about Rural Youth Europe too, and loads of our own members are coming along to take part and help run events throughout the week.”
