National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs

Fun, Learning, and Achievement

01 May 2015

Massey Ferguson is very pleased to announce this brand new, joint initiative with the National Federation of Young Farmers.

Home Grown Talent is about recognising, supporting and rewarding young people who want to be part of the agricultural industry but are unsure about the path they would like to take in this early stage of their career development.

This new initiative is open to Young Farmers aged between 10 and 16 who are keen to pursue a career in agriculture. Through the scheme, Massey Ferguson will provide two people with the chance to learn new skills and gain valuable industry knowledge, through training, fun and experience.

Lindsay Haddon, Advertising and Sales Promotion Manager says, “Massey Ferguson is passionate about the future of farming. The next generation of farmers are the key to our success and as a company we stand by our commitment to support them, along with our dealers, wherever we can. Already this year we have had some great examples of Young Farmers who have had the opportunity to work with us and in turn this has opened new doors for them on their career path”.

Hannah Talbot, NFYFC Chair of Council, said: “Our members really like to see such an important company within the agricultural industry showing that they care about young people and investing in the future of agriculture. The Home Grown Talent campaign is an unprecedented venture between Massey Ferguson and the younger members of NFYFC, that further re-enforces the support that Massey Ferguson are offering to our members and the commitment they are showing to the next generation of farming.”

What is a Home Grown Talent Ambassador?

Two Young Farmers (one male and one female) will each be offered the opportunity to become a Home Grown Talent Ambassador. As Ambassadors, the two winning Young Farmers will have a tailored programme created for them by Massey Ferguson. This programme will support them to learn more about the industry and hopefully give them an idea about what they would like to do in the future. Included in this tailor made programme will be:

  • A trip to Massey Ferguson’s factory in Beauvais, France, for you and a parent/guardian.
  • Work experience and activities with Massey Ferguson. These will be held during school holidays (area of work to be agreed between both parties).
  • An expenses paid trip to an agriculture/trade show with Massey Ferguson for you and a parent/guardian.
  • The opportunity to spend time with a Massey Ferguson mentor.
