Fun, Learning, and Achievement

01 June 2017

Hundreds of YFC rallies are taking place across England and Wales and clubs are hosting competitions, fun activities and entertainments to showcase their skills and talents.

From large scale county shows, such as the one Essex FYFC held in May that attracted more than 15,000 visitors, to smaller – but no less impressive – rallies held on local farms – YFCs have been proving they really do know how to do things best!

NFYFC Chairman of Council Ed Ford has been attempting to visit as many rallies as he can and has been touring the country on his mission.

“The sheer number of entries into competitions has really impressed me, literally shed loads of entries!” said Ed who travelled nearly 600 miles over the bank holiday weekend so he could attend rallies in Pembrokeshire and Berkshire.

His loyalties remain with Essex though as his favourite show so far. The major event is organised by county members and makes a considerable sum of money for the county. Even

President Charlotte Smith was amazed by its size as she tweeted from the event: “@EssexYFCShow amazing, had no idea it was this BIG!!”

Social media has been flooded with images from excited members who have been winning county competitions or just generally enjoying celebrating at rallies.

At the Royal Bath & West Show, on 31 May, members of Somerset FYFC even got to show off their Federation to the Prime Minister Theresa May who popped into their tent for a chat during the show!

“We welcomed Prime Minister @theresa_may to the Somerset YFC tent this morning, what a fantastic first day at the @BathandWest  #yfcdoitbest.” tweeted @SomersetYFC.

You can catch up with lots of photos from the rallies and shows going on around England and Wales in our Facebook photo album. Please send your photos to to be included in the album.

Ed’s top three moments from 2017 rallies so far:
1.    Watching 21 Young Farmers squeeze into an old Peugeot 306 at Bedfordshire’s County rally.
2.    Line dancing on a trailer at Leicestershire’s County rally.
3.    Pembrokeshire’s post rally dance.
