A 24-hour sheep ‘shearathon’ by two members of Culm Valley YFC in Devon has raised £20,150 for the MS Society.

The hard-working duo, Club Chairman Stuart Persey and former Chaiman James Westcott, sheared an impressive 1,135 sheep over their 24-hour mission.

The club hosted the event over the August bank holiday weekend on Stuart’s family farm and included a BBQ, raffle and charity auction to help them boost the fundraising total. There was even a breakfast BBQ served at 8.30am on the Sunday morning.

After totting up the donations, the club posted an update on their Facebook page saying:

“We still can’t quite believe what we have managed to achieve but we will always be so grateful for the support that everyone has shown us for the event through donating items, money, their time or simply coming to watch. Thank you, from all of us at Culm Valley!”

The club chose to donate the funds to the MS Society after members’ of the club have close family with the illness.
