NFYFC Agriculture Committee members Milly Wastie and Mark Houlton made their mark early in the New Year by taking part in the Oxford Farming Conference Debate. Supporting Stuart Agnew MEP who proposed the motion ‘This House believes British agriculture could thrive outside the European Union, Milly helped to swing the vote in their favour. Mark Houlton seconded opposer Andrew George MP and relished taking part in the lively and prestigious debate.
Amongst the many YFC scholars who attended were NFYFC Youth Forum members Harriet Wilson, Matty Sharp and Aled Jones. Aled commented that the Oxford Farming Conference was a truly incredible experience and one that he will never forget. Having the opportunity to speak to industry leaders and people with an incredible wealth of experience was extremely enjoyable and offered a glimpse into the intricacies of the farming industry. His highlight was taking the floor in the Oxford Union and being able to contribute to a superb debate.
