Paddle like an Ancient Briton in a coracle, our oldest type of water craft.
Re-enact history with your friends by making up a team of five contestants and race against your fellows in a Coracle Relay Race on July 25-26 on the River Lugg, at Mortimer’s Cross Mill, near Leominster, Herefordshire.
YFCs are being urged to enter a team in this year’s event and the coming years in the run up to the London 2012 Open Weekend. It costs £8 per team to enter.

Do difficulties securing rural housing affect young people’s decision to live and work in the countryside?
The National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) and English Rural Housing Association are inviting members of Young Farmers’ Clubs (YFCs) to share their concerns and experience about housing in rural areas. A survey aimed at finding out members’ views on rural housing has been launched at the NFYFC’s Chairman’s Reception during the Royal Show.
Chairman of NFYFC Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, Douglas Jackson, said that NFYFC was pleased to launch its next survey in association with English Rural Housing Association and looks forward to using the results to good effect. The survey will help to add to on-going research and determine any barriers to young people entering and staying in the farming industry as well as helping members who want to live and work in a rural area.
