What we do
Annual convention
More than 5,000 YFC members gather for a weekend of fun, learning and achievement as part of the NFYFC annual convention. A full line-up of activities provides members with plenty of choice, from participating in discussion forums and supporting competition finalists, to attending the AGM and enjoying social events.
Annual report
A round-up of the annual achievements of the national federation including the work of the national steering groups and YFC area federations.
Competitions programme
Competitions are the life-blood of YFC and offer fun, learning and achievement for members of competition age who want to learn new skills or hone existing ones.
The NFYFC competitions programme is set by the competitions steering group, to an overall theme which changes each year, and aims to cater for the diverse interests of the YFC membership.
YFC county staff conference
A two-day conference for YFC county staff and fieldworkers which offers presentations, workshops and discussion on topics relevant to rural youthwork. The conference provides a chance for county staff to discuss current YFC issues and find out more about government funding, youth and rural affairs policies.
Discovery programme
The NFYFC travel and exchange programme offers members the chance to broaden their horizons by experiencing new countries and cultures.
IT support for counties
NFYFC offers a dedicated IT service for county YFCs to help them ensure their membership records are accurate.
Legislation and policy
NFYFC helps YFCs function safely and legally by interpreting safeguarding and health and safety legislation; and devising policy to help YFCs implement the law in their clubs.
Marketing
NFYFC represents YFCs nationally, communicating strategic news and inititatives and information about national events.
Members’ insurance
NFYFC’s insurance policy for YFC members takes into account the diverse activities of the organisation.
NFYFC chairman’s day
This is a day for county and area chairmen and vice chairmen to find out more about the work of the national office and the running of their own organisation. Topics include: aims and objectives of NFYFC, opportunities, schemes and services, as well as the role of a YFC chairman.
Partnerships and supporters
NFYFC has many supporters, sponsors and a growing network of partners who enhance and develop its work and increase the benefits and opportunities available to YFC members.
Personal development and training
An essential component of any youth organisation, training ensures that young people are given the opportunity to learn new skills, develop existing ones and gain personal confidence and ability. NFYFC training helps to ensure the effective running of YFCs in England and Wales by preparing young people for their roles in running those clubs.
Courses include: Train the Trainer; Advanced Train the Trainer, Leadership Development; Leadership Challenge and NFYFC Essential Skills Course.
Representing young people nationally
NFYFC makes sure that YFC members are represented nationally within industry, youthwork and government.

NFYFC provides a host of resources to help clubs and county federations organise their activities and prepare members to run them.
