What we do

The steering group is made up of regional YFC members who are focused on developing the competitions programme each year. The competitions programme is at the heart of YFC - statistically every YFC member takes part in at least one competition every year.

What have we done ?

• Produced a programme of 30-35 competitions
• Gave members the opportunity to learn new skills
• Ensured each competition has an objective (learning/ education, skills, community/ cultural)
• Linked the programme to the YFC Training, Youthwork and agricultural/ rural agendas
• Made each year’s theme topical, for example ‘Olympics’
• Worked with associations such as England Volleyball, NAFAS and Betafence to provide continued support to members and counties
• Promoted safety to members when organising competitions
• Piloted new competitions
• Gain feedback from our members
• Promoted Young Farmers by showing competitions at major shows
