Two sisters from Herefordshire YFC are through to national stockjudging finals, after proving their mettle in the ring. Charlotte and Megan Watkins, both members of Craswall YFC, stormed to victory after racking up some impressive scores at the West Midland Area Stockjudging competition, held at Worcester Cattle Market.

All competitors had to judge four rings of stock –dairy cows, butchers cattle, butchers lambs and breeding ewes— as well as complete an animal health and husbandry questionnaire.

In the Stockman of the Year competition, Charlotte beat 43 other competitors to first place, dropping just two points in the breeding ewes event. Twelve year old Megan also took the top spot in the Young Stockjudge of the Year competition.

The sisters will now go forward to represent Herefordshire in the national finals, which will be held at Hartpury College on the 15th and 16th September.
