Helston and St Keverne YFC took centre stage at the annual Cornwall FYFC carol service at Truro Cathedral, performing to 1,000 members and supporters of the federation.

Members of Helston and St Keverne, together with Warleggan YFC, performed prayers and readings and re-enacted the classic nativity story complete with live animals.

Club Secretary Christine Jenkins took on the role of Mary, riding a very stubborn donkey down the aisle with the help of Chairman Eddy Savage as Joseph. Other members from Helston were playing angels and shepherds, carrying very noisy lambs.

Katherine Spencer, county organiser for Cornwall YFC, said:

"We allocated 1,000 tickets and we had another 350 on the waiting list. It's a chance for all the farming community to meet up and every club in the county was represented, as all 21banners went in a procession down the aisle. It was lovely and a lot of people said that it wasn't Christmas until they had been to the Cornwall YFC Christmas service."

Donations from the service and the club’s carol singing evening will be split between two charities; Farm Crisis Network and Cornwall Air Ambulance.
