When Colchester and District YFC member Emma Bowdidge’s eighteen-year-old brother was diagnosed with stomach cancer, there was no question that the Essex based Club would put all of their efforts into raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The Club has a history of fundraising and this year was no exception. They have held a Big Breakfast, made from local produce, and spent a rainy day selling wheelbarrow loads of manure. However the icing on the cake was a recent Auction of Promises which raised over £11,500 for the charity.
100 members and supporters turned out for the auction, which included a ‘tree’ of vouchers for meals, plants and gifts as well as weekends away and VIP tickets to cricket at the Oval. However the most popular lot was a day’s labour from five of Colchester YFC’s very own members, which raised a fantastic £600.

The Club's press secretary Gemma Long says;

“We are really keen to raise awareness of the fantastic work the Teenage Cancer Trust do and to support them to continue this work. Through our fundraising so far we have raised over £14,000. I would like to thank all the members and supporters involved in making our fundraising events a success!”
