Young Farmers in Hertfordshire have found an unusual way of letting off some steam before the busy work of harvest begins.

James Watts and Ben Wilson from North Herts YFC recently took part in the quirky village tradition of wheelbarrow racing to help raise funds for local charities.

Every year the village of Braughing in Hertfordshire holds a charity event which involves teams of two racing around the village in a decorated wheelbarrow – with one member in the barrow and the other pushing! Stopping off at a few pubs on the way, the teams race to the finish line to be crowned champions.

Unfortunately this was an accolade James and Ben just missed out on. After a strong start the boys, who were dressed as Where’s Wally, were overtaken in the final leg by the eventual winners.

Money raised from the event went to two local good causes Isabel Hospice and Friends of Jenyns First School.
