Two Teesdale Young Farmer’s Clubs have been helping to spruce up their local livestock market with a long overdue paint job.

Enthusiastic members from Staindrop YFC and Barnard Castle YFC have been redecorating Barnard Castle Auction Mart in County Durham – painting gates at least twice a week to get the job done.

Libby Bell, Auctioneer at Barnard Castle Auction Mart said:

‘The mart hasn’t had a re-paint since foot and mouth, so it desperately needed a makeover. We all opted for the Young Farmers to come in and do it as we knew they’d be up for the hard graft!’

Alice Wood, Secretary at Staindrop YFC added:

‘It has been great to get both clubs together and achieve something, not only for our local mart but also our local farmers. I’d also like to thank everybody who came and helped – it’s been hard, but fun!’

As a reward, Barnard Castle Auction Mart gave the clubs £750 each for painting the whole mart. The money given to the clubs will help fund club running costs and much more for upcoming and present members.
