Young Farmers in Warwickshire have raised thousands for a local hospice after hodling their annual summer party.

Wormleighton YFC raised just under £3000 for Katharine House Hospice at their summer festival which this year took the theme of a family fun day.

The main attraction was a Tug of War across the river, with five Clubs from Warwickshire YFC taking part and a slightly damp end for the loosing side!

Amy Brown, Wormeleighton YFC's Chairwoman said:

“Tug of war is taken really seriously amongst Warwickshire Young Farmers; so it made a good change to have a light-hearted competition. The river element always draws a good crowd and it was great to see so many people supporting their teams.”

Other attractions included lamb racing, bale throwing, sumo wrestling and more, followed by a BBQ, for which all of the produce was kindly donated.

The fun day was followed by a festival-themed open-air party, where hundreds of young farmers danced the night away.

Amy added:

“I’m so pleased that we are able to donate £2,970 to Katharine House Hospice, the hard work from our members certainly paid off. It has really inspired us to make next year bigger and better.”

The cheque was handed to Katharine House Hospice this week and  a spokesman for the charity said:

“We are so grateful to the young farmers for this fantastic donation, they have been supporters of the hospice for several years, raising many thousands.  Katharine House relies on donations such as these to provide our care which is free to all who turn to us.”
