Ramsey YFC have raised £500 for two charities at their Spring ball.

More than 180 people attended their Spring Fling in April held to help two charities close to the Club’s heart – Macmillan Cancer Support and Cystic Fibrosis.

Members called on local businesses and all their contacts to donate more than 20 raffle prizes, including tickets to Burghley House, a free gliding lesson, a free riding lesson plus lots of coats and jackets from various country stores and depots.

The Club found that the personal approach and the promise of advertising worked the best in getting prizes. Everyone who donated had their names printed on the back of the menus.

The money was split equally between the two charities – the picture to the right shows members presenting the cheque to members of the Ramsey Macmillan Cancer Support fundraiser team.

Ramsey YFC Chairman Chris Roberts said: “We are extremely pleased with the amount we managed to raise for our chosen charities. Both charities are important to us as many of our members and their families have been affected by one or the other.”
