When Buxton YFC member Olivia Gratton qualifies as a nurse this August she also plans to mark the occasion by raising money for the patients she has helped.

After three years of study at the University of Derby, Olivia and her cohort of student nurses decided to take part in the Macmillan Trekathon across Hadrian’s Wall.

The challenging 23-mile hike in Northumbeland is the charity’s unique way to celebrate and remember those affected by cancer.

Olivia said: “We are taking part in the Trekathon to mark us qualifying and in respect and memory of all the patients we have cared for and will continue to nurse in our careers.”

Olivia and fellow nurses will take part in the trek on 16 August. You can donate to Olivia’s challenge here and find out more about the Trekathon here.
