When a local activity centre asked groups to compete for the title of 25 Challenge Champions to mark its 25th Anniversary, County Durham Young Farmers proved to be the best.

Outdoor education centre Weardale House in County Durham ran the special challenge throughout 2013 and hailed 25 members of County Durham Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (CDFYFC) the victors.

CDFYFC had proven to be the best at a range of activities when they took part in the challenge last November.  The team of 25 members from YFCs in the county took part in activities such as orienteering, blindfolded (human) sheep herding, climbing Jacobs ladder and plunging into a freezing river.

A team from Weardale House attended the County’s exec meeting in July and presented them with the trophy for being the 25 Challenge Champions. They also won a free activity weekend for the winning team.

Claire Raw, CDFYFC Club Support Officer, said:  “Members thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we are hoping to offer more adventures like this in the future.”
