17 February 2015

The unlucky day for some of Friday 13th February proved the opposite for some Staffordshire and Derbyshire YFC members, with 5 pairs successfully securing dates at Uttoxeter Young Farmers charity “Take Me Out” night. The evening, compeered by Uttoxeter’s very own Paddy McGuinness, Mr Chris Hall, saw some of Staffordshire’s finest take to the stage in an attempt to gain a date and help raise money for the Air Ambulance.

With over 160 people in attendance the evening was well supported.  Uttoxeter JNFU Chairman Devinia Redfern commented “The night went very well, raising money for charity whilst having a good time is all part of what YFC is about! The feedback we’ve had since the night has been fantastic and there have been some really good suggestions for a sequel next year!”

The idea for the evening was originally thought up by Mrs Doreen Hall, a supporter of the club, during a break at a public speaking competition. The budget for the evening didn’t quite match that of the ITV show but the comedy value certainly did, with skills such as skipping and sledge hammer balancing being demonstrated by a former Staffordshire YFC County Chairman, Andrew Goldstraw and current County Chairman, Mick Gallimore.

Whilst the Island of Fernando’s was out of budget, hopefully a night at Nando’s won't disappoint! Uttoxeter Young Farmers wish to thank all those that attended, supported and took part in the evening to make it such a success.
