Fun, Learning, and Achievement

20 March 2015

St Patrick's Day was celebrated across the country on 17th March and Leek Young Farmers Club (YFC) decided to take this to a whole new level on Saturday 21st March, with their sell out “An Irish Night to Remember!”

The inspiration for the evening came from Club Chairman, Oliver Holdcroft and Club Secretary, Katie James, who wanted to put on a night of entertainment for members to participate in, and guests to enjoy whilst raising some funds for the club, a registered charity.

From the moment the audience walked into Horton Village Hall, they were greeted with warm welcome from the members of Leek YFC who had pulled together an evening of traditional Irish entertainment, comedy, fun and laughter. The club members, with an age range from 10 years to 26 years, have rehearsed tirelessly for weeks to bring nine acts together for their night of Irish humour. This has boosted the club members with their confidence, team work and bonded the members of all ages together.   The evening opened with Traditional Irish Dancing and was followed by some brilliantly executed comedy sketches from Monty Python, The Two Ronnies, Mrs Brown’s Boys.  The second half of the show included a Stars in their Eyes spoof with “Eastlife” and “Ronan Beating” pulling off two very convincing performances, poetry and even more comedy.  The final performance “If I was not upon this stage” featured a very tricky choreographed action comedy and singing routine.  This bought the evening to a close with plenty of laughter and cheers from the audience.

Club Chairman, Oliver Holdcroft said “We would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who came and supported our “An Irish Night to Remember.” We couldn’t have asked for a better response from the members who took part and audience on the night.  Also to everyone involved in the production for their time, effort and hard work.   It’s safe to say a fantastic night was had by all!”
