Wales YFC members chosen to travel with NFYFC in 2011!

Four members of Wales YFC have been chosen to travel with NFYFC to New Zealand, Kenya and France as a part of the International Discovery Programme.

These lucky members from Wales took part in a special selection process held on Saturday the 8th of January to decide who would be representing the largest youth movement in Europe across the globe.

“These four members are in addition to the 20 other members already chosen during a previous selection day held at the Wales YFC Office in Builth Wells,” said Kay Morgan, Wales YFC Activities and International Committee Chairman.

“This means that Wales YFC will be well and truly represented around the world, with a total of 24 members heading for foreign climes.

“The trips range from short one week excursions to 3 month affairs – and obviously, homesickness is not an option!” she added.

Steven Rees a member of Fishguard YFC in Pembrokeshire was selected as one of 4 members that will spend 3 months each working as part of the farm team at Limestone Downes in the North Island of New Zeland. He will depart for the 7,954 acre sheep and beef farm in April.

Catrin Jones from Mydroilyn YFC, Ceredigion earned her place on the France trip where she will be hosted by IFYE, the YFC organisation in France. This homestay trip will last around 4 weeks and Catrin will be staying with different families during her time in France.

Two members were selected to travel as part of a group to Kenya in August. Mark Powell from Llandefalle YFC in Brecknock and Arwel Evans a member of Eglwyswrw YFC, Pembrokeshire will stay with local families and sample village life of a different sort. They will also get involved in a community project.
