Clubs from all over Wales to represent county federations at Wales YFC entertainment feast

9 clubs from all over Wales will represent their county Federations in the Wales YFC English and Welsh Entertainment Competition to be held during the new Entertainment Feast weekend.

This new event to be held on the 12 and 13 of March at the Grant Theatre, Swansea, is set to be one of the highlights of the Wales YFC calendar and it will be a showcase of YFC talents where members from across Wales will entertain audiences with colourful and professional half hour performances on the Grand stage as a part of the Competition.

The weekend festival will give members the opportunity to perform on a professional stage with up to date facilities with assistance from experienced stage managers. For the first time Wales YFC bring both English and Welsh finals of the Entertainment competitions together to the same stage.

A Welsh session will kick off the proceedings at 2pm with Bodedern YFC, Ynys Môn; Bro Ddyfi YFC,  Montgomery and Llanwenog YFC, Ceredigion competing. The second session of the day will begin at 7.30pm where Fishguard YFC, Pembrokeshire; Aberedw YFC, Radnor and Builth Wells YFC, Brecknock will compete with their English performances. The second day will begin earlier at 12 noon with an English session where Usk YFC, Gwent; Llandovery YFC, Carmarthenshire and Maendy YFC, Glamorgan will entertain the audience. The final session of the weekend will be a bilingual session with Eglwyswrw YFC, Pembrokeshire and Dyffryn Cothi YFC, Carmarthenshire competing in Welsh and Berriew YFC, Montgomery showing off their English performance. The session, which starts at 5pm will also host the results of both the English and Welsh Entertainment competitions.

Tickets for the performances are available from the Grand Theatre Box Office on 01792 475 715.

Over the two days the Grand Theatre will be buzzing with other events. Special workshops in Welsh and English will be held in the arts wing of the theatre to develop the members skills in costume making, make up and scripting. Past entrants of the Wales YFC NatWest Enterprise Scheme will be present to promote their businesses and to offer advice to other YFC members who are thinking of going it alone.

To mark Wales YFC 75th anniversary a celebratory tree planning session will be held in conjunction with Coed Cadw at Clyne Woods at 10am on the Saturday morning. Wales YFC are also asking those attending the weekend to bring along old photos of YFC events to be scanned on to computers as part of the Wales YFC archiving project.

A sky dive is also planed, where Enfys Evans the Wales YFC Chairman along with other supporters of the organisation will jump from a plane at Swansea Airport to raise awareness of the Wales YFC charity of the year Mind Cymru in association with Rural Support Wales.
