Young Farmers enjoy evening at Buttercross Farm

Last Tuesday Ashley Young Farmers and Market Drayton Young Farmers attended a meeting with a difference at the local Buttercross Farm. Members had the opportunity to see where their favourite cuts of meat come from, and even had a go and making their own sausages! They even managed to try the delicious sausages and thoroughly enjoyed this privilege!

Chairman Phil Brindley said, “The evening was great fun. It was a great opportunity for the members to see where meat comes from; just showing that it does not come pre-packaged in the supermarket.”

Pembrokeshire and Radnor YFC members to take part in rural youth Europe spring seminar

Rachel Mathias, of Martletwy YFC, Pembrokeshire, and Lucy Stonebridge, of Howey YFC, Radnor, will be travelling to Strasbourg, France at the end of the month to represent Wales YFC at the Rural Youth Europe Spring Seminar under the heading “Spice up your Potential”.

The seminar aims to develop the confidence and motivation of the participants in the field of coaching and to empower those attending to build sustainable strategies for coaching in their home organisation.

The opportunity to attend the Study Tour is one of many travel and learning opportunities offered by Wales YFC to its members as a part of the International Programme.

Lucy, who works in the recruitment department of Powys County Council has been a member of the YFC for 8 years. She is an active member who takes part in all activities within her club and county. Currently she is Vice-Chairman of her club and the Activities Chairman of the Radnor Federation. Outside of the YFC she enjoys swimming and socialising with friends. She has previously travelled with the YFC to the Rural Youth Europe Rally which was held in Sweden last year.

Rachel, who works as a sales and reservation consultant for Bluestone Wales, has been a member of the YFC since 2001. She is currently the treasurer within her club and has taken part in many activities including public speaking, stockjudging and drama with the organisation. This will be the first time for her to travel with the YFC.

“I am looking forward to attending the study tour and to meeting young people from across Europe. I will be taking the opportunity to promote Wales YFC as a successful organisation, which enables members to further develop themselves in a variety of fields. I hope that I will be able to bring back mentoring and coaching skills which I can use within my own club to encourage our younger members in particular to become more motivated,” stated Rachel.
