YFC Stockjudging

Cumbria Young Farmers travelled to Thirsk Auction Mart to compete in the Northern Area Stockjudge and Young Stockjudge of the Year.

Edwin Holliday of Aspatria Young Farmers commented “It was a really good day.  24 Young Farmers from Cumbria competed against Young Farmers from the 6 Northern Counties.  We judged fat lambs, breeding lambs, dairy and beef”.

Edwin was placed 3rd overall in the Stockman of the Year Competition with Amanda Jackson, Skelton YFC 8th and Mark Curr, Pennine YFC 10th.  Cumbria A team of Paul Storr, Edwin Holliday, Paul Lowthian and Philip Mattinson came 3rd overall with Cumbria C 4th and Cumbria B 6th.

In the Young Stockjudge of the Year, Rachel Edminson, Longtown was placed 5th with Adam Brown, Greysouthen 8th and Rebecca Gardner, Longtown 10th.  Cumbria B’s team of Gemma Slater, Kelly Stott, Adam Brown and Rachel Edminson came 3rd overall.

Edwin Holliday will now compete in the National Final at Harper Adams College on 3rd & 4th September.
