National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs

Fun, Learning, and Achievement

04 January 2012

Recently Cheriton and Tedburn Young Farmers enjoyed a delightful Christmas party where we handed over cheques to The Devon Air Ambulance Trust. A cheque of £660 that our advisory raised and £1250 raised by our members throughout the past 12 months.

We managed to raise this money with the help of the advisory in a variety of different ways like, raffles; discos; race nights etc. one event that we put together was the Hike ‘n’ Bike across Dartmoor from Chagford to Widecombe In The Moor! It’s as simple as it sounds – A team of Hikers and a team of Bikers raced it across Dartmoor to the finish line! Even with bikers having much more distance to travel – they still beat the hikers with hours to spare!

As a club we also put on a clay pigeon shoot and a coffee morning, and performed our semi-finalist entertainments performance of ‘Radio Gaga!’ – with each event raking in the money for the Devon Air Ambulance!

As a club we decide on a local charity each year to raise money for – and this year we have decided to choose CLIC Sargent charity! We are hoping to support them in even more events than we could this year!
Our current Chairman Chris Berry commented “Supporting local charities each year is an important part of what we do in YFC, and we take great pride in raising as much money as possible as well as helping them in any other way we can!”
