14 Clwyd YFC members had an early start on Saturday, 14th April, to travel down to Brecon Market to compete in the Wales YFC Field Day competitions.

Elen Pierce and Catrin Jones, from the Betws yn Rhos Club, came second with their Cube Exhibit.

The Junior Stockjudging team did very well, as three of them were competing at Wales level for the first time.  Team members were:  Iolo Francis, Llangollen;  Ifan Roberts & Dafydd Parry, Ruthin and Ifan Jones, Llansannan.

Elain Jones and Lois Lambie from the Uwchaled Club competed in the Junior Safety competition, and Dafydd Williams, Cilcain, and Dan Griffiths, Llangollen, competed in the ATV Challenge.

While they were waiting for the marks to be counted, a fun competition was held for counties – to eat breakfast against the clock – Orange, Boiled Egg, Crackers, Baked Beans and a pint of milk – and members really enjoyed themselves !!

Wales YFC Chairman, Dylan ‘Beefy’ Jones has set himself a challenge— a 500 mile bike ride around Wales, raising money and awareness of the Wales YFC Charity of the Year, Wales Air Ambulance.

The aim of the bike ride is to cycle around Wales, stopping at all of the 12 County Federation offices and the 3 air bases of the Wales Air Ambulance, an organisation he is delighted to be supporting:

“Once I got thinking about the Wales Air Ambulance I had little hesitation in pledging my support to this worthwhile charity. No one knows when they will need the support of the Air Ambulance, and in the 10 years it has been in existence it has provided invaluable support to many individuals and families- including past and present YFC members. However it is only through public donations that they are able to continue this support, and I felt that this would be a fantastic opportunity for our members to show their support and appreciation for the Wales Air Ambulance.”

The journey will be completed in stages and Dylan aims to start at the Gwent Federations’ County Office in Gwent College, Usk on the 1st of September and aims to arrive in Cardiff in time for the Wales YFC Freshers weekend on the 5th of October.
“The challenge is ambitious and I hope that the whole membership will get behind me and support me.”
