Montgomeryshire actors win Wales YFC English drama final

Actors from Berriew YFC, Montgomeryshire, took home a Welsh Royal Crystal rose bowl and the RH Watkins trophy in the Wales YFC English drama finals.

Llysyfran YFC, Pembrokeshire, were second, and Llanfynydd YFC, Carmarthenshire, were third in the competition held at Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon.

Best actor was Craig Pearce, of Berriew YFC, and best actress was Sioned Ifans, of Llysyfran YFC, Pembrokeshire, who won the award for the second consecutive year. Both took home a Welsh Royal Crystal goblet donated by Farmers Union of Wales.

The Paul Elkington Productions Trophy, awarded for technical achievements, went to Builth Wells YFC, of Brecknock.

Caroline Dawson, Wales YFC activities and international committee chairwoman, was impressed by the standard of the productions held over the two nights.

“What YFC members achieve annually is astonishing. The effort that goes into preparing each production is phenomenal, and now that the finals have been held most clubs will turn their attention to the upcoming field day competitions, and then the county rallies. There really is no stopping them.”
