Harrogate district YFC rally

Competitions ranging from the silly to the highly skilled formed part of the fun, learning and achievement at Harrogate District YFC’s rally.

Hosted by Knaresborough YFC at Sunrise Farm, Kirkby Overblow, the event saw the district’s YFC members battling it out in bed races and face painting contests as well as the serious business of honing their stockjudging skills.

The final results of the day were Farnley Estate YFC in first place, Winksley-cum-Grantley in second place and Knaresborough, third. The rally was rounded off with a dance at Almscliffe village hall.

Yorkshire YFC county rally

Harrogate also went on to success at the Yorkshire YFC county rally on 6 June, with Farnley Estate finishing first overall, and Winksley-cum-Grantley finishing third. Felliscliffe was placed third out of the clubs with under 28 members. The district took home a total of nine club and seven individual trophies and Harrogate district was placed third in the county.

Winksley-cum-Grantley YFC scored a hat-trick in the Harrogate District farm valuation competition on 16 June, with its members triumphing in all three age categories.

The junior competition was won by Oliver Metcalfe, intermediate by Chris Britton, and Ewan Metcalfe was the winning senior.

Ewan also won the Barclays Bank Cup for the highest individual score, and the Farm Valuation Trophy for the overall winning club went to Winksley-cum-Grantley YFC.
