Rearsby & District YFC presents cheque to RABI

Rearsby YFC presented a cheque for £3,435.47 to Leicestershire's Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) at its annual dinner dance at Park Hill Golf Club, Seagrave.

RABI’s East Midlands regional officer Milly Wastie received the cheque on behalf of the charity, and congratulated the club on the work done to raise such an amount.

Rearsby YFC also received the Young Farmers’ trophy at RABI’s AGM for their work raising both cash and awareness of the work done by the charity.

The YFC raised the money by producing a 2009 calendar.

Brecknock YFC Field Day

Brecknock YFC members gathered at the Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells, on 31 October for the annual field day.

Members took part in nine different competitions: ATV safety and handling, junior nature challenge, decorating a christmas tree, junior farm safety, club promotion, fence erecting, public speaking (16 and under), county exhibit and Welsh public speaking (26 and under).

The county exhibit was a new competition introduced to the field day this year and which proved popular. Clubs were asked to produce an exhibit on the theme My Home County and each exhibit had to include a floral arrangement, a county flag or emblem (needlework), a local dessert, four mounted photographs and a decorated cake.

The day closed with the awards ceremony where the overall Elizabeth John Field Cup was presented to Troedrhidalar YFC. Joint second place were Erwood YFC, Llandefalle YFC and Sennybridge YFC.
