Competitions
Competitions are a major part of YFC life. From the serious dealing with safety, to the silly such as worm charming, competitions provide much of the fun, learning and achievement that makes Young Farmers' Clubs so special.
You’ll find at least one event you can’t resist taking part in and you only have to talk to one of our members to know that competing is pretty addictive and you’re bound to want to have a go yourself.
It doesn’t matter how old you are, how fit you are or what skills you already have, the varied competitions programme is open to everyone and there’s always someone who can get you in training or help you gain the skills you need to take part.
From stock judging to sewing, public speaking to ploughing, you can start off competing at at a local club level and then find yourself battling it out in the national championships.
And in the true spirit of YFC, if there isn’t a competition that takes your fancy, you can create a new one! You may want a web site design competition or a Tomb Raider challenge – whatever it is, there’s bound to be room for it in the YFC competitions calendar.
However, competitions are not just about competing against your friends and other clubs. Many of our members have gone on to make a career out of skills learned through YFC involvement – it’s a great way of finding out what you’re good at and enjoy!
