All the fundraising Drigg YFC have completed so far this year has gone towards GNAAS to help fund the life-saving care they give within our rural areas. Drigg YFC has raised over £44,000 and we are not finished yet!
Drigg YFC is known for getting stuck into almost every competition available and love to give everything a go!
We particularly enjoy Stockjudging and Public Speaking competitions. YFC competitions are a great way to get out and meet new people and learn new skills.
Drigg is well known in the community for bringing everyone together. We like to include the local community in our events, bringing a great range of people together and giving everyone the opportunity to speak with and meet new people.
We enjoy and look forward to getting out into the community and we are now currently preparing for our local shows, where the well-known “Welly the Heli” will be joining us along the way!
Drigg YFC has demonstrated outstanding creativity, commitment, and community impact through their fundraising efforts for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
On 19–20 July, they completed the remarkable challenge of pushing a replica air ambulance helicopter, “Welly the Heli,” 77 miles across Cumbria. Engineered from a Suzuki Wagon R and built over four months, the helicopter travelled through Seascale, Gosforth, Beckermet, St Bees, Whitehaven, Workington, Cockermouth, Keswick, Penrith, and Langwathby.
The event drew wide public attention, including the support of a town crier and enthusiastic spectators.
Their dedication is reflected in the participation of over 80 people aged 11+, and the coordination of training sessions and traffic management.
So far, they’ve raised over £44,000, beating their initial target of £30,000. They have now set themselves a challenge to reach £60,000, supporting a service personally meaningful to club members.

It’s Drigg YFC hands down for us! Welly the Heli was one of the most impressive and creative YFC fundraisers we’ve seen – pushing a replica air ambulance 77 miles and raising over £44,000 for charity is no small feat. The local coverage and social media buzz they generated made the whole campaign truly captivating. Incredible work and a well-earned Club of the Month!
