Our recent activities:

This year, members have enjoyed a variety of meetings so far. We recently had a behind the scenes tour of the local Leicester Tigers' ground, joint with Norton & Gaulby YFC. We also held a club 'Bake Off' where the winning baker took home the much-coveted Lutterworth YFC Golden Spoon. We have also visited a local Jersey dairy farm with Enderby YFC, where members enjoyed some delicious milkshakes made using fresh milk!

Coming up, we are looking forward to the return of a favourite meeting – 'I’m A Young Farmer, Get Me Out Of Here!' hosted by our Junior Chair Jenson. We'll also be having an introduction to gun dog training and a talk about a local vintage tractor run coming up in June.

Competitions we enjoy:

Lutterworth YFC are a competitive club within the Leicestershire County, especially when our Club Secretary Eleanor and I have anything to do with it! Members thoroughly enjoy Rally each year and were really excited to at last be crowned the winners in 2025 after 15 years! We are looking forward to the challenge of defending this title at the upcoming Rally in May – no pressure!

Members are always keen to get stuck in, whether it’s sports, Performing Arts, Public Speaking or Stockjudging competitions; there’s plenty all our members enjoy getting involved in.

Last year, we had a number of national final entries. Junior and intermediate members Ruby and Hollie attended the Floral Art competition at Malvern Autumn Show in September, Emma, Izzy, Charlie and Jenson represented the club at a number of Stockjudging competitions at the English Winter Fair in November and our Men’s Football team came fourth at the national Sports Day finals in July last year.

We recently took part in the Commercial Dancing, Senior Member of the Year, Situations Vacant and Junior Public Speaking competitions at the East Midlands Area weekend in Skegness, claiming a second place and a few third places.

We are also getting back into the swing of things with our Tug of War teams. Last year we had both a Women’s and Junior team, and this approaching season we are focusing on the Junior team – watch out Leicestershire they’re coming for you!

Our community support:

Lutterworth YFC are always keen to get involved in our local community. Each January, we collect and recycle nearly 500 trees, which helps us raise funds for the club and also for our chosen charity each year.

We volunteer at local events throughout the YFC term, from the local Archers Festive Tractor Run in December to the Theddingworth Sheep Dog Trials in the summer and the Lutterworth Remembrance Day parade in November. Whether it’s car parking, marshalling or even washing up, Lutterworth YFC are always willing to lend a hand.

This year, our chosen charity is the Air Ambulance, a charity who provide vital support to many across rural areas. We have so far held a successful Dinner Dance, Christmas Tree Collection and Cycle Ride, all of which has raised thousands of pounds and counting!

Why we are Club of the Month:

This March, Lutterworth YFC embarked on our biggest challenge yet – cycling 75 miles across two days from Melton Mowbray Market to Skegness for the East Midlands Area competitions weekend. We raised money for the Air Ambulance in memory of our member Jack Woodward, who sadly passed away last year.

We were joined by members from neighbouring clubs Enderby YFC and Rearsby YFC, so far raising over £10,000 and counting!

The club pulled together and showed great teamwork to organise the cycle ride and make sure everyone got to the finish safely.

We are incredibly proud of the 18 cyclists who took part and so grateful for everyone’s support and commitment to our challenge! A huge thank you to the Woodward family for their continued support and to our Club Treasurer Georgi Jones and the rest of the team behind the scenes, without whom, it would not have been able to go ahead.

Lutterworth YFC continue to put absolutely everything into anything we do. I am very proud to be Club Chair this year and to be surrounded by such a keen, enthusiastic group of members.

Completed by Lutterworth YFC Chair Alice English.

The Judges' Comments

An impressive fundraising effort from Lutterworth YFC in memory of a member of their club. It's not only a fantastic fundraising total but the organisation, the teamwork and the dedication to the cause really stood out.

As well as raising lots of money for the Air Ambulance, we think this challenge has raised spirits too – we could see how much fun was had in the planning and execution of their mission!

We love their club meeting ideas too and the way they work together to support their community. Keep up the great work Lutterworth YFC!
