Our club has enjoyed an incredibly lively month and year packed with events that show off our Young Farmers' spirit.
We’ve held a huge variety of meetings and socials including ice skating, pumpkin carving, games nights, stockjudging evenings, and a hugely successful domino drive that raised £400. This year our biggest fundraiser was our Speed Sheer, bringing in £9,600 for the Great North Air Ambulance, The Farming Network and Cumbria YFC.
We also hosted an exchange weekend, run monthly “Pub of the Month” trips to support local businesses, and have taken pride in giving back to our village by repainting the bus shelter and war memorial. Looking ahead, we’re excited for our Tractor Run on 14 December in aid of Papyrus – a cause that means a great deal to our members.
We absolutely love getting stuck into competitions, especially the quiz, junior reading, tug of war, and anything involving public speaking. These events bring out the very best in our members: teamwork, confidence, and plenty of friendly rivalry!
Community involvement is at the heart of everything we do. From raising thousands of pounds for charities to supporting local pubs and businesses, we’re committed to giving back.
We’ve worked hard to keep our village looking great by repainting the bus shelter and war memorial, and our upcoming Tractor Run for Papyrus is another example of how passionate we are about supporting causes that matter to young people in rural communities.
We also contributed countless hours to Skelton Show – one of our area’s biggest and most important events. With members on the committee and many helping with setup and stewarding, we play a key role in keeping the show thriving. We also run a Show Dance each year that brings people together and boosts club funds.
We’re proud to reflect the values of Young Farmers – leadership, service, teamwork, and initiative – in all our community work.
We believe we deserve Club of the Month because our members show passion, commitment, and pride in everything they do.
Our calendar is constantly packed with activities that build skills, support the community, and bring young people together.
From major fundraising efforts to hosting competitions and representing Young Farmers with enthusiasm, our club embodies the values of the movement. Our members are true ambassadors for Young Farmers: dedicated, energetic, and always ready to get involved.

This month’s winning club impressed us with a nomination that showed a group operating at full strength – purposeful, well-balanced and genuinely impactful.
Their month was a standout blend of community involvement, competitive success and member development, all delivered with real energy and intent.
What truly set them apart, however, was their consistent commitment to linking everything they do back to NFYFC’s core values. It’s clear this club isn’t just busy – they’re thoughtful, driven and making a meaningful difference.
Well done Skelton YFC!
